Tom graduated with a First Class honours degree in English literature and language from Oxford University.
After successfully completing a one-year MPhil program in eighteenth-century literature at Cambridge University, Tom joined the editorial department of the London Review of Books, where he was responsible for dealing with contributors and proofing articles for factual accuracy.
His next job was as a researcher and writer at the legal publishers Chambers and Partners. After two years he became deputy editor of AOB Magazine, for company secretaries, and then editor of Chambers USA, a client’s guide to the US legal market. During his time in this position he oversaw the research and production of three editions of the book. He also helped to organise an annual awards ceremony and spoke at marketing events.
Tom left Chambers and Partners in June 2010 to become a freelance writer, editor and legal directory consultant. Since then he has written extensively on current affairs for national papers and leading e-zines and reviewed plays for a number of theatre sites. He has also advised the marketing departments of major law firms on legal directory submissions and interview technique.
